Crownhill Packaging Joins Esteemed Packaging Organization Focused on Environmental and Sustainability Concerns
TORONTO, January 31, 2020 (Newswire.com) - TORONTO, January 31, 2020 (Newswire) -Crownhill Packaging, one of North America’s largest full-service packaging suppliers, has become a member of the Paper & Paperboard Packaging Environmental Council (PPEC) in Canada.
Founded in 1990, the PPEC is a representative body that strictly focuses on the environmental and sustainability concerns of the Canadian paper packaging industry. With a proven and enviable track record of environmental awareness and industry successes spanning three decades, they hold several global and North American achievements.
This includes pioneering the composting of waxed corrugated and old boxboard, becoming the world’s first paper packaging association whose entire membership participates in the responsible sourcing of both virgin and recycled materials, and the first packaging association in Canada to call for a complete ban on old corrugated containers in landfills.
By operating with one voice, the PPEC can successfully lobby government agencies and network with other industry-related organizations to further the environmental, social and economic stability of the Canadian paper packaging industry. This allows them to develop practical solutions, coordinate implementation, and promote the environmental and sustainability successes of the industry.
It is thanks to this forward-thinking and commitment to environmental standards that the PPEC now represents over 90% of the packaging mills and packaging converters in Canada.
“Becoming part of the PPEC is a natural and important extension of our commitment to improving our industry’s environmental impact,” says Rodney Taylor, vice president of Crownhill Packaging. “I look forward to representing Crownhill and participating in the development of policies and other practices that help promote and develop our industry responsibly.”
Crownhill Packaging joins an already impressive list of respected packaging mills, converters and associate members in the PPEC. Together, they contribute a body of knowledge and expertise ideal for helping move environmental and sustainability initiatives forward.
