When people study press release titles, one of the commonalities amongst the viral ones is a trending topic. You can turn to topics that are almost always trendy, like health and money. You can also capitalize on trends that you see in top search results, like Donald Trump and zombies.

  1. Emotions

Another commonality amongst viral press release headlines is emotions. You can play into your prospect’s emotions. Are they feeling anxious, frustrated, or upset? Do they want to feel hopeful, prosperous, or excited? Use these emotions to motivate shares and to draw them into your release.

  1. Make it Tweetable

Tweets are comprised of 140-ish characters. That’s not a lot of content, and yet there’s a good amount of room to say something interesting. Approach your headline as if it were a tweet. Try to keep it short, sweet, and compelling. It’s also good to know that there are tools you can use that actually make any quote, factoid, or headline tweetable with the click of a button.
