New Legal Powers For Penrith

Online, January 3, 2013 (Newswire.com) - New legal powers will be in force in Penrith in the New Year as the County's largest law firm opens premises on Cornmarket.

A core team of specialist solicitors from Burnetts is taking up residence in the market town from Monday January 8th. Its aim is to develop and strengthen links with people and businesses in Penrith.

Employment Law Partner Natalie Ruane lives in Penrith and is leading the town's team. She said, "Over the last few years I have been focussing on building our presence in Penrith: I've been a regular at the Penrith Curry Club, joined the Chamber of Trade earlier this year and have also been hosting fortnightly legal briefings at Cranstons. I'm hopeful that I can play a more active role in the local business community now that we have a full-time base here."

This latest expansion supplements Burnetts' existing bases at Victoria Place and Rosehill in Carlisle, Westlakes Science Park in West Cumbria and in Newcastle.

To promote its presence in the area, the firm will be providing a free Saturday morning clinic on the last Saturday of each month. The first clinic, with a focus on employment law issues, will take place from 9.30am - 12.00pm on January 26th at the Cornmarket premises (above Seagraves and Dixon) and will be delivered by Natalie. She will be able to advise employees and employers on issues such as redundancy, re-structuring, changes to terms and conditions as well as handling grievances, disciplinary procedures and other employment law problems. Business law experts from Burnetts will continue their series of successful legal briefings through 2013. The sessions will include advice on a range of business law subjects such as property, public procurement and health and safety. The events will re-commence in February with an employment law session on Tackling Poor Performance on February 13th.
